This project consists of 4 cyanotypes on watercolor paper, in A3 format, depicting one of the oldest and most fascinating sites on our planet.

Although it is widely known and visited every day by hundreds of people, no one has yet managed to unveil its secrets.

The choice of Stonehenge as the subject for my cyanotype project was driven by a deep fascination I hold for the intersection of human ingenuity and the grandeur of nature.

The arrangement of the stones at Stonehenge is not merely a feat of sophisticated engineering, but also appears to allude to a sacred relationship with the stars and planets. The structural alignments seem to indicate a keen observation of solstices and equinoxes, underscoring the profound connection between human architecture and celestial cycles.

In my project, I aim to capture this synergy between ancient star knowledge and the photographic art of cyanotypes. The use of deep blue in cyanotype not only recalls the color of the nighttime sky but also evokes a sense of mystery and depth akin to the vast universe above us. Just as stars shine in the cosmic darkness, so do the Stonehenge cyanotypes reflect the immense beauty that arises from the fusion of nature, history, and human creativity.

This project is an invitation to contemplate the timeless relationship between humanity and the starry heavens, to explore how ancient cultures sought to make meaning of the cosmos, and to encapsulate this wonder in tangible forms. The Stonehenge cyanotypes thus become more than photographs; they transform into bridges to an enigmatic past and to contemporary artistic expression, both inspired by stars that have shone since time immemoriale pearl of Vesuvius

Stonehenge, with its ancient stones arranged in an enigmatic manner, represents an extraordinary example of how ancient civilizations sought to understand and interact with the celestial world.
