PortrAIts
Today Artificial Intelligence is a well established reality, capable of generating content and performing complex tasks autonomously.
The inspiration comes from the Internet when I discover a website that creates images from a simple phrase.
My approach challenges the concept of portraiture: the faces I present are entirely imaginary. Yet, despite their fictional nature, these faces possess such verisimilitude that they appear realistic, tangible, and, in a sense, real.
This raises a crucial question: what is truly real?
The images are perceived as authentic, leading to the assumption that the subjects depicted actually exist.
Artificial Intelligence greatly simplifies the creative process, removing the challenges related to finding models, producing in the studio, and other legal aspects; this represents a significant shift.
The perspective is unique: I create portraits of people who simply do not exist. In a context where every portrait is traditionally an attempt to capture the essence of an individual, my work do not represent what exists, but rather what is conceivable, possible, or at least imaginable.
These reflections are themes I constantly explore in my artistic work, where portraiture is a central element of my practice.
I wonder if the observer notices this.
